Osner Jean-Louis
Senior advisor
Senior advisor and founding member
Originally from Beaumont, he developed a taste for community involvement in his youth, notably in literary clubs in Beaumont and Jérémie. After secondary school, he founded the Conseil d’action communautaire de Beaumont. This group built passable roads, organized activities for young people and gave the commune a small drinking water network, meeting a pressing need of the population.
In Canada, his commitment continued in community and religious circles. A pastor, he held various responsibilities and for six years chaired the Bon Berger housing cooperative in Montreal. His term was marked by the construction of twenty-four units for low-income people.
Back in Haiti after thirty-eight years in Canada, a young woman asked him: “What are you going to do to help young people?” The Sildor Foundation allows him to answer that call. A founding member and senior advisor, he volunteers in its administration. For him, retirement leaves full room for a lifelong commitment: being useful to his community and supporting young people.
