Who we are
The Sildor Foundation is a Canadian charity founded by people from Haiti who share a common purpose. It supports children, young people and families in Beaumont and Corail, two communes in the Grand’Anse department of Haiti.
The Sildor Foundation works to fight poverty through education. Its approach combines education, culture, skills, support for families and community development.
Our ambition
To create the conditions that allow children and young people to move step by step from education to self-reliance.
Our mission: fighting poverty through education
- Promote education by offering scholarships for primary and secondary studies.
- Promote education by providing the necessary school supplies.
- Support and recognize academic success and perseverance.
- Promote education by offering vocational training to young adults.
- Help create an environment where children and young people can reach their full potential by providing life’s essentials, including food, drinking water, clothing and/or shelter, to their families.
- Educate and raise awareness about the living conditions of vulnerable communities in Haiti and foster intercultural exchange.
Full potential: physical, psychological, cognitive, social and emotional development throughout the child’s or young person’s schooling so that, as an adult, they become self-reliant and fulfilled, educated, skilled and socially adept.
Our vision
The Sildor Foundation focuses on the education of children and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds. In doing so, it seeks to help turn the areas where it works into inspiring communities, able to realize their potential and contribute to the country’s social and economic development.
